We have a number of general practice associates who are established and regular members of the practice team.

Appointments for these doctors may be offered to all patients registered here and their appointments can be used interchangeably with those of your registered GP at the surgery. The GP associates are fully qualified and trained GPs.


  • Dr Adnan Malik – General Practitioner Principal (Male) MBBS, LRCP, FRCSE
    I qualified in 1979 and have worked in various hospitals. I did my GP training locally and completed this training in 1993 and have been at the Benhill and Belmont GP Centre since 1996. My special interests are minor surgery, care of the elderly and occupational health.
  • Dr Jeffrey Croucher – General Practitioner Principal (Male)
    I have been a GP Partner at the Benhill and Belmont GP Centre since 2003 and am also a GP Trainer and a GP with a Special Interest in Musculoskeletal medicine. I have also worked with Sutton Clinical Commissioning Group(CCG) as Locality Lead for the other local GP Surgeries. More recently I have represented Sutton CCG as Clinical Chair.
  • Dr Shazma Mawani – General Practitioner Principal (Female) BMedSci, MBChB (2002), MRCGP, DRCOG, DCH, DFSRH
    Dr Mawani qualified with Honours degrees in Public Health and Medicine from Birmingham University in 2002. She has worked at St Thomas’, Kingston and Croydon hospitals, undertaking rotations in Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Care of the Elderly, Obstetrics and Gynaecology before entering General Practice in 2006. Dr Mawani joined Benhill and Belmont GP Centre in 2012 and became a Partner in 2013. She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. She has a postgraduate teaching diploma from the University of Westminster and helps to train new GPs. Dr Mawani is married and has two children
    Dr Alenka Shaw – General Practitioner Principal (Female) MBBS MRCP MRCGP DFFP DPD
    I qualified in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 1994. I finished my postgraduate training in Internal medicine with gastroenterology and became a Consultant in 2001. After marrying a Scottish physicist, I move to the UK in 2003 and decided to become a GP. I did my vocational training in St Helier Hospital and took my membership exams for MRCP and MRCGP qualifications (2006) and family planning diploma (DFFP) during the same period. I gained further training in diabetes (Warwick University 2008) and in practical dermatology at Cardiff University (PDP Cardiff 2017). I worked locally before joining Benhill and Belmont GP Centre, becoming a partner in 2016. My areas of interest are diabetes, family planning and dermatology with dermoscopy.
    Dr Zaitun Ahmed-Jushuf Bsc Hons, MBBS, MRCGP, DFFP, DRCOG
    Dr Z qualified as a doctor from Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2000. She completed General Medical Training with MRCP qualification in London and followed on with training as a Junior Doctor in Oncology and Palliative Medicine. She started General Practice Training from 2006 with St Helier Hospital and locally in General Practice within Sutton. She worked as a locum and an​ associate GP within Sutton for a couple of years following qualification. Dr Z is appointed as Macmillan GP for Sutton CCG in 2015 to continue to develop interest area in oncology and palliative medicine. Dr Z joined Benhill and Belmont GP Centre in 2016 and became Principle GP in April 2017 with clinical interests in Oncology, Palliative Medicine and Family Planning.

GP Associates

  • Dr Hazel De Bono – General Practitioner Associate (Female)
    Dr Hazel de Bono graduated from Glasgow University Medical School in 1989. She completed her training there and worked for several years as a GP in Glasgow.  After spending a few years abroad, she joined the team in 2003 as an Associate GP. She enjoys the daily challenges of general practice and caring for patients at every stage of life.
  • Dr Annabel Ilves – General Practitioner Associate (Female)
    Dr Ilves qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London, in 1990 after undertaking a BSc in 1987. She joined the Ealing Vocational Training Scheme in 1991, completing her GP training in 1994. Following a career break, she started working at Benhill and Belmont GP Centre in 2003 and is currently an associate GP for four sessions per week. She has special interests in anticoagulation, mental health and the social aspects of medicine. In addition to practising as a GP, she is a medical student tutor.
  • Dr Tanya Indrakumar – General Practitioner Associate (Female)
    Dr Indrakumar qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2010, attaining Distinctions in her Final Examinations. She also achieved a first class honours BSc degree in Immunology at Imperial College. She completed her GP training in the St Helier Training scheme. She has an interest in all areas of general practice. She grew up locally and has moved back to the area with her husband and child.  Outside of work she enjoys travelling and reading.
  • Dr Avais Malik
    Dr Avais Malik graduated from St George’s University of London Medical School in 2013, and began his medical career in the Lake District, before returning to Surrey to complete GP training. He worked across Surrey and Sussex, before joining Benhill and Belmont in 2019. Dr Malik has keen interest in paediatrics, ENT and mental health, but enjoys all aspects of GP life. Outside of work, Dr Malik enjoys a variety of sports, particularly football and cricket.
  • Dr Zahid Ataullah
    Dr Ataullah joined the practice in 2020. He completed the Graduate Course in Medicine at Cambridge University in 2011. Prior to this he studied Economics. He initially worked in the West Midlands and then carried out his GP training in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells before moving back to Carshalton where his family has been based since the 1980s. He enjoys Paediatrics but is happy to consult on all aspects of GP. He looks after a local nursing home as well as being involved in the roll out of video group consultations at the practice.
